Employment Opportunities

Starting as a charity FBC is now a growing charitable business with an inspirational work culture - Using food as a tool to combat hunger and build communities, Foodbank Canterbury is a ‘take-no-prisoners, make-no-excuses, well-oiled hunger-fighting-machine’ that is having major impact in Canterbury, and for the people of of the region – the Civic Emerging Leadership Award winner for 2017. Westpac Business Champions Award Community Service; Westpac Business Champions Supreme Award Winner - Small Enterprise 2018.

FBC is the accredited NZ Member of The Global Foodbanking Network.

As the region's only non-faith based, non-politically aligned food rescue organization, at FBC our culture is our personality. Open and totally transparent, FBC is made up of our values, beliefs, underlying assumptions, attitudes, and behaviours. Respect for the individual is an imperative – judgement is just not in the cards. Our only mission is to rescue food, sort and redistribute it to those with the immediate need.

Ancilliary to our food rescue is the impact we make on the environment. Through our work landfill emissions are minimized through a reduction in waste – benefiting all citizens with a healthier environment.

We believe that an organization’s culture is made up of all of the life experiences each employee or volunteer brings to our organisation especially influenced by the passion of our founders and trustees in their role in the decision making and strategic direction of FBC; however we believe that everyone involved with us has an impact on what FBC has become.

This is our culture!
